Learning Spaces

Where students learn matters? The research around the power of the learning environment continues to grow, and there are so many things that teachers and leaders can do to optimize their space to support the academic and personal growth of students. Based on the concepts of The Space: A Guide for Educators, we can work to make sure that learning spaces are designed with intention and promote collaboration, creativity, and calm.

In addition, there is a huge leadership component around learning space design that goes well beyond the classroom. How can all spaces in a school support learning? How can all spaces tell the non-verbal story of the school? How can all spaces remain fresh, vibrant and add to the energy of the school?

Students with choice and agency have the freedom to grow as learners and understand how and where they learn best.
Natural light and space to move are key elements to well designed spaces.
